Spendthrift Farm freshman sire Jackie’s Warrior added another milestone to his promising start at stud when Let Em Know captured a maiden turf race at Saratoga on Sunday. The 2-year-old colt, purchased for $600,000 at OBS March, was making just his second career start and became Jackie’s Warrior’s first turf winner, adding to a growing list of winners on dirt and synthetic surfaces across North America.
After a slight hesitation at the break, Let Em Know quickly moved into contention and settled just behind the early leaders. He advanced on the turn, battled past Not Ever, and then dug in gamely against Roscoe Goose through the final strides, getting his head down at the wire for the victory. Jockey Edgard Zayas praised the colt’s determination afterward, calling him “definitely a fighter” and noting that his recent turf work had been especially encouraging.
